Agility
Agility is a fun sport
in which handlers and dogs negotiate a course comprising of jumps/hurdles,
tyre, tunnels, weaves, and contact equipment includes a dog walk, a-frame
and a see saw.
There are usually around
20 obstacles on a competition course,
which have to be run
in numerical order without faults,
very similar to horse
show jumping.
Before a show you have
the opportunity to walk the course with out your dog,
before having a running
order and course time to run it in.
There are different classes for different standard dogs as well as mini, midi and abc (anything but collie) classes.
The different levels
for standard size dogs are Elementary, Starters, Novice, Intermediate,
Senior, Advanced and of course, Open classes all of which need a different
number of wins to go up a level.
You can have up to around
400 dogs per class in some of the bigger shows, but the usual is
around 250.
