What can I say about Jak? He was simply the best
I miss him so much, it physically hurts to think about him & Holly, losing them both within a year has been the hardest thing for me to have to do, while in my heart i know it was to ease their suffering, they have been such a huge part of my life, i'm even in tears writing this over a year after he has gone :(
Jak in his younger years, was fun, playful and eager t please, he did everything that was asked of him with such a keen way about him, he was pretty vocal, and working in agility helped him with his excess energy. He went from elementary to starters pretty quickly when he got his head and feet going the right direction!!
After a slight knock when aged 6 he damaged his rear leg, meaning he sadly had to retire from agility, after reaching Senior status (grade 6 in old money) he had a couple of Intermediate wins, and the day of his knock he came 2nd in Senior agility and won an open class.
As Jak aged, he certainly slowed down very suddenly about aged 11 he suddenly started to act his age :( In November 2010 he suffered a vestibular attack, for around a week he lost all control of his legs, and also his balance, luckily he was strong and fit, and he pulled through, however he was significantly weaker afterwards, and gained a head tilt.
Sadly in March 2011, Jak had a few general health worries, including blood in his wee which our lovely vet Sandra couldn't find a cause, and then he had a 2nd vestibular attack, losing all function of legs, bowels & bladder, unfortunatley this time it didn't improve, and he told us it was his time, so he went to sleep with dignitiy, and i will never forget that day.
I like to remember Jak running faster than id ever seen a dog run, barking the whole time, and chasing a frisbee, he was a brilliant catch!! He taught puppies manners that came through our house, all our pups respected him and his grumps at them if they tried feeding from him :)
I love you Jak, and i miss you so much more than you will ever ever know, sleep well my old friend x
